General Wainwright (Medal of Honor Recipient in 1945), Emmett Lanier, Clark Griffith
|
Talk about an exciting moments!
Washington Senators' Opening Game, April 16, 1946, I was in a movietone newsreel shaking hands with Ted Williams when he hit his first home run and crossed home plate after returning from being a Marine Corp pilot in World War II.
At another Opening Game at Griffith Stadium President Truman signed a baseball for me.
And in September 2001, to be honored as a panelists for "The Legacy of Griffith Stadium" a Sports Symposium presented by Howard University Hospital where home plate still exists inside the Hopital marking the spot where Griffith Stadium once was.
